Day 1 Our weekend holiday commenced at the Brisbane Jet Base early. Two hour flight to Bourke and the path took us over Cubbie Station (Cotton) and the Darling River into Bourke. Had a little time to stretch our legs while they refuel our aircraft, a Fokker F50. |

Next part of the trip was westwards over the southern end of Lake Eyre South and then over the stunning Painted Hills. Arrived at Coober Pedy for a look and overnighted at the Desert Cave Hotel. |

Day 2 Rejoin the aircraft and continue on our trip over William Creek and Lake Eyre North. The Lake was about 75% full but was dropping from a max of 85% for the year. The flight took us over Warbuton Grove where the northern floorwaters enter Lake Eyre North, then followed Warberton Creek to Goyder Lagoon. The views over the Lagoon are most stunning! Also in this part of the trip the sand dunes of the Simpson Desert were observed. |

Landed at Birdsville for lunch at the historic Birdsville Hotel. Also spend time at the Working Museum, its second last day before closing, as the owner (John) was moving because of health reasons. From Birdsville we return to Brisbane after a very enjoyable two day in the outback. |

In two days we travelled 4200km by air. Great trip and a once in a life time opportunity to see Lake Eyre with water. It was about 75% full! |
